Interview with Fyreheart Cosplay

Be the Spark Cosplay Mandy Pursley

We here at Geek Post have said it many times that cosplaying is an art form and we will continue to say it. Cosplaying is fun and freeing and creative. If you have cosplayed once or a thousand times, there is just nothing like it.

We are very happy that we got a chance to do this interview. Let’s take a few minutes to get to know Fyreheart Cosplay.

GeekPost: How long have you been cosplaying?  How did you discover it?

Fyreheart: I have been cosplaying for about 2.5 years. I have always been into dressing up and acting like my favorite characters. I remember being a child and rummaging through my closet to throw together an outfit and running around in the backyard pretending I was an elf chasing down orcs 😂

GeekPost: What is your favorite thing about cosplaying?

Fyreheart: My favorite thing about cosplaying is actually becoming the character and interacting with others at cons in character. Seeing people’s smiles makes me happy.

GeekPost: Can you describe your most challenging cosplay to date?

Fyreheart: My most challenging cosplay has been making the bow from scratch for my Madoka Kaname cosplay. It took me about 2 months to make but was so worth it!

GeekPost: How many conventions have you attended?

Fyreheart: I have attended so many cons, I can’t count them all! I have been a cosplay judge at two and pretty soon, three cons 🙂

GeekPost: Which one was the most fun?

Fyreheart: Ichibancon 2022 has definitely been the most fun!

GeekPost: Who or what is your favorite character or concept to cosplay?

Fyreheart: I enjoy cosplaying Star Wars, anime and video games. I especially love cosplaying bad ass ladies!

GeekPost: How do you choose who you are going to cosplay as?

Fyreheart: It’s a long hard process since I always want to make so many cosplays at the same time.

GeekPost: Do you consider yourself a geek?

Fyreheart: Of course! I have been a nerdy geek my whole life! I used to be ashamed of it and bullied because of it growing up but now I embrace it! It’s my favorite thing about me!

GeekPost: What do you do in your free time when you’re not cosplaying?

Fyreheart: When I’m not cosplaying (and not working), I enjoy playing video games, watching anime and traveling.

GeekPost: GeekPost is all about being inclusive and welcoming to all people. Are there any challenges that you have faced in the cosplay community?

Fyreheart: I have not personally experienced any challenges, but I have seen it firsthand. Cosplay should be inclusive to everyone no matter your shape, size, skin color, sexual or gender orientation…anything!

GeekPost: Do you have any words of advice for someone who wants to start cosplaying?

Fyreheart: It’s ok to start small and just cosplay with what you have in your closet, or even thrifting. I have seen some pretty cool cosplays that came from Goodwill and they spruced it up. Also don’t be afraid to reach out to fellow cosplayers or social media to ask for advice!
